Design+Build Project

The Kirin Restaurant in Richmond was built in 1998 to serve the area's vibrantly growing Chinese community, and is the third location of the Kirin Restaurant chain. The challenge of building a restaurant of this caliber was its second floor location, with the main entrance coming from a parkade. Rich stone finishes were used with dark wood corridors to stage the user's entry from the parkade to the main dining area.

During our long working history with the Kirin Restaurant group, at this location together we discovered that 10,000 sq.ft. is the ideal location size for a restaurant Kirin's stature to maintain its high level of service, have a kitchen large enough to prepare its vast menu and operate as an ideal business model.

In March of 2008, GovanBrownSzeto was retained as the design and construction management service provider to oversee its first renovation since its opening. The ambiance of the restaurant was updated to service its customers for years to come.
